Roku - Using the app as a remote

This article explains how to download the Roku app and use it as a remote. It is intended for homeowners as well as technicians. 

Make sure your device is connected to the same WIFI network as your Roku device. 

1. From a phone or tablet download "The Roku App (Official)". NOTE: There are many 3rd party Roku apps, use the official app for this article.


2. Open the app and select Continue. Then It is recommended to select "Skip" for Favorites and Notifications.

3. Select Next for Personalize your ads. Then It is recommended that you select "Ask App Not to Track".

4. If you know your Roku account credentials you can select Sign in. Otherwise select Continue as guest.

5. From the main page select the "Remote" button in the center of the bottom bar.


6. Select Connect now. Then select "Allow" when asked to allow Roku to find devices on local networks. 

7. Allow a few seconds for the app to discover the Roku devices, it may say "No devices found" at first. If after 10 - 15 seconds the app still can't find any devices, contact Osbee. 
From the list of discovered devices, select the one you wish to control


8. You can now use the app as a remote control for the Roku.
