Verify and retrieve a SIMPL program

Verify and retrieve a SIMPL program

This article explains how to verify and retrieve the running program on a Crestron processor. This article assumes the reader has working knowledge of Toolbox Text Console and loading Crestron SIMPL windows programs.

Verify The Running Program
1. Open Toolbox Text Console and connect to the processor.
2. Run the "PROGCOM" command. For programs running in slots other than 1, use the full command with a colon and the slot number. For slot 2 you would use "progcomments:2".
3. In the response, look at the "Program File" line and confirm the name of the file matches the file you are modifying.
4. In the response, look at the "Compiled On" line and confirm the date matches the date of the file you are modifying.

If the name and or date does not match the file you are modifying, please stop and contact a Programmer or IT person for help.

Retrieving a program
1. Open Toolbox Text Console and connect to the processor. You can also use Discovery Tool.
2. Open the SIMPL program window and use the Retrieve... button. NOTE: This will stop the running program and provide you with an LPZ or SPZ of it.

You now have a backup of the current running program that can be reloaded if needed. NOTE: You cannot edit a retrieved LPZ or SPZ, you can only load it to a processor.
