Crestron Home - Sonos boot issue
A bug has been discovered with Crestron Home and Sonos integration that prevents the Crestron processor from booting.
ISSUE:
The Crestron Home processor will get stuck in a boot loop if the IP addresses of the Sonos have changed.
CONDITIONS:
This applies to Crestron Home processors that are integrated with Sonos.
The processor has to reboot at the same time that the Sonos players take different IP addresses. The most likely scenario would be a power failure.
SOLUTION:
The Crestron Home processor cannot see any Sonos devices during boot. There are a few ways to achieve this:
Power down all of the Sonos and wait for Crestron Home to fully boot.
For CP4-R, disconnect the network feed or disable the network port at the switch, and wait for Crestron Home to fully boot.
For MC4-R and DinAP4-R (PoE), assign the network port to a VLAN that goes nowhere and wait for Crestron Home to fully boot.
Once the Crestron Home processor fully boots (takes about 5 minutes), you can reconnect the Sonos or re-enable the network feed.
PREVENTION:
All Sonos players must be given DHCP reservations so that the IP addresses cannot change (Changing the Sonos IPs while Crestron Home is running will not cause a problem).
